ਬਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਮਥਾਰੂ
Balvinder Matharu was born in Bilga, District Jallandhar in Punjab, prior to coming to United Kingdom in 1968.
After schooling in Bedford, he studied architecture and qualified as an architect in 1979.
In 1987, he established his practice Ankur Architects in London. In addition to the design of built environment and sustainability, his passions are art, music and poetry. His first book ‘Shubhkarman’ was published in 2015, and second, ‘Sur-Sanjh’ in 2020. They reflect cross cultural influences, interactions, and sensitivities gained through travels and living in a multicultural society.
He lives in London with his wife Pushpinder, daughter Livjot and sons Karun and Rahul, and spends time in the Loire, France in a self-renovated stone farmhouse.
Shubhkarman
Shubhkarman is a reflection of social and personal experiences, both, in the sub-continent and in Europe. Its attempts to challenge conventional perceptions and explores the extraordinary within the ordinary. The experiences are rural and metropolitan, contemporary and traditional, mythical and factual.
Sur-Sanjh
Sur-Sanjh portrays poetry of the self, which may also be a reflection of many. It is composed of fluid language, subtle imagery, and open dialogue. It rises above geographical, cultural, religious, and nationalistic boundaries, and embraces fundamental human values of love, beauty and harmony.
